Wooly warmth

I have something of a wool blanket/throw collection going - they're one of my favorite things to buy as souvenirs when in sheepy countries (Ireland, Scotland) and they're terribly nice to have around for cozy tv watching. So far I have a great purple tartan one, a purple/cream check one, and an Avoca red/grey tartan.

Someday, I'd love a good classic Pendleton striped throw. Maybe vintage?

But now, I'm loving the offerings from Faribault Woolen Mill Co. I think it's my current love of buffalo check, probably inspired by being back in the mountains and countryside, where homey plaids and rugged leather and plush fur feel so much more appropriate than in the city.

I wasn't sure about mixing green + red, no matter how soon Christmas is coming, but I think with the grey and navy neutrals it works here. Plus I like the slightly retro feeling of the clogs and the cut-out top mixed with the more modern menswear of the cargo trousers and blazer.

Yesterday was my mom's birthday, so I spent the morning with her shopping and having fun. I'm taking advantage of the lingering fall weather before winter sets in to wear my shorts once or twice more, albeit with my cozy bomber jacket on top.
