We went shopping like crazy people on Sunday. It was great fun and Jennifer came away with quite a haul (I came away with a few gems and some mental notes of things to re-check out).

Outfit Post: Pushing Buttons

I wore this outfit for a day out to the farmer's market with my girl, newly arrived from America! We had a mostly lovely visit together, marred slightly by two bouts of a nasty stomach bug! What with the sickness we didn't end up doing a lot of touristy things but luckily we like each other enough to act as nursemaids even on vacay.

Nigella

Ok, so now that Jennifer's birthday has come and gone, I can reveal my super-secret mission from a few weeks ago - a Nigella Lawson book signing! I have one very awkward picture as proof. Nigella called my camera "very serious." It was fab!

Isn't she gorgeous? Le sigh.

Holmes' Home

Haha, so punny, I know. Ok, one more quick hit of my obsession and then we'll return to our regularly-scheduled outfit posts, this time with a little something (someone!) extra! Synopsis of this post: I would like to live like a high-functioning sociopath and his bff/mystery husband.

 The name is Sherlock Holmes and the address is 221b Baker Street.

 Ok, I die for that wallpaper. Mrs. Hudson has wicked good wacky wallpaper taste. Also, skull painting!

 I asked Jennifer if I could have a longhorn skull with headphones on our wall. She said yes and I'm holding her to it.

 Gratuitous Lestrade! But mostly I love the Union Flag pillow and grey/red plaid blanket on John's chair. I have my eye on a similar blanket at Avoca.

 Layout shot - cozy! I love the built-in bookshelves.

 Kitchen full of labware? Sure, why not. I'd prefer no severed heads in the fridge, however.

 I love the worn, cozy leather couch, especially paired with that incongruously prim chair on the right.

 Great use of the mid-century modern chair with the older architecture and the fab wallpaper.

 I love this shot for the way you can appreciate the textures at play, and they way everything looks comfortably worn.

Had to get one shot of the mantle! Skull on the left, and if you look closely you can see the mail held down with a pocket knife on the right. Love!

Obsessions: Sherlock

I am beyond obsessed with the BBC's new adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock. It's a modern day adaptation with a seriously studly cast - Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock, Martin Freeman as John Watson, Rupert Graves as DI Lestrade, and Andrew Scott as Jim Moriarty.

Yum, right? But, possibly even more amazing than the male eye-candy (and the suits! and the jumpers!) are the amazing sets and art direction. I want to move into 221B Baker St, Sherlock and Watson included or not.

Outfit Post: Ahoy

I just bought this red skirt and had it home approximately 2.5 seconds before realizing I have almost nothing in my wardrobe that goes with red without looking like a costume. So, I embraced the costume effect a little and went with red, white, and blue (stripes!). A bit sailor, a bit patriotic. I am thinking I will pair it with some lovely charcoal tones at some point, though.
